Lectors

Ministers of the Word (Lectors) are commissioned to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture during the celebration of the Liturgy.

It is their privilege and duty to proclaim the Word of God, feeding God's people during the Liturgy of the Word in the Celebration of the Eucharist.

In addition, Lectors are also asked to read the Welcoming Introduction, the Intercessory Prayers (Prayers of the Faithful) and Announcements as necessary.

Ministers of the Word are provided with a book which explains the readings, and enables the Lector to learn about what they will be proclaiming as well as practice reading the Scripture prior to proclaiming the word at Mass.

If you would like to listen to the week's readings prior to coming to Mass, you can click here and be taken to the USCCB website where there are Daily Reading Audio files.

If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please email or call the Parish Office (203) 748-9029.
